Avrupa'nın demografik problemi / The demographic problem of Europe

Başbakan’ın ısrarla 3 çocuk istemesinin altında aslında belli bir mantık var. Gerçi şu anda mevcut nüfusun sürdürülebilirliği için gerekli rakam üç mü iki mi bilmiyorum ama Avrupa’nın içinde bulunduğu büyük açmaz da işte bu. Hem alttan yeni nüfus gelmiyor hem de mevcut nüfus yaşlandığı için onların sağlık ve bakım giderleri sosyal güvenlik bütçelerinde büyük açıklar yaratıyor.

Tabii Avrupa’da el emeğine dayalı üretimin ve tarımın yerini otomasyon aldığı için ve hizmet sektörü sürekli büyüdüğü için eğitimsiz nüfus ihtiyacı da bir yandan azalıyor yani bir nevi doğal seleksiyon yaşanıyor. Kalifiye olamayan boş bir nüfus kalabalığı yaratmaktansa her bireyin değerli olduğu bir toplum yaratmak daha önemli. Zaten küreselleşme denilen süreç ve kapitalizmin dayatmalarıyla dünya serbestleşen ticaret ortamıyla birlikte varolduğundan beri en hızlı nüfus hareketlerini yaşıyor. Artık kimse kendi küçük adasında diğerlerini dışlayarak yaşama şansına sahip değil.

Avrupa’nın yapması gereken de ciddi bir entegrasyon sistemiyle göçmenleri A.B.D.’nin yaptığı gibi kendi ülkelerine çekmek ve şu anda eksik olan dinamizmi sağlamak. Aksi halde tam adına uygun şekilde ‘yaşlı kıta’ olmaktan kaçamayacak ve ekonomik olarak da büyük çöküşü engelleyemeyecek.

Bu yüzden de A.B.D. bence hem topraklarının büyüklüğü ve verimliliği, hem doğal kaynak zenginliği hem de nüfusunun bu topraklara göre az ve genç olması nedeniyle daha uzun yıllar dünya liderliğini kimseye bırakmayacaktır. Steve Jobs’un dediği gibi belli oranda aç ve bilgisiz olmak mücadeleyi ve başarma isteğini getirir ki dünyayı döndüren de zaten milyonlarca yıldır bu dürtülerdir. Zirvede olmak genellikle düşüşün başlangıcıdır.

 

There is a certain logic behind the Turkish Prime Minister’s call for 3 children for each family. I am not sure whether two or three children are enough to sustain the current population but this is exactly the big problem in Europe. There is not a new generation coming from behind big enough to cover the health and care expenses of the elderly which by the way live longer each passing year thus causing huge deficits in the social security budgets.

Of course in Europe manual labor and agricultural labor is replaced to a big extent by automation and a growing service sector therefore allowing less need for an uneducated population which in a certain sense is a form of natural selection. Instead of a population with little qualifications, it is more important to create a society where each individual has value. The globalization process and the increasing pressure of the capitalist system and free trade environment the World is going through a period of massive population movements. Nobody can live on his small and isolated island anymore alienating the others.

The European states in my opinion need to create a very serious and detailed immigration system similar to the U.S. to integrate the immigrants in their countries and acquire the dynamism that they are lacking. Otherwise, as it is called, it will not be able to avoid becoming the ‘Old Continent’ and impede an economic downfall.

This is why I think that the U.S. will continue to be the World’s super power for a long time because they have a big land which is mostly empty with rich natural resources and a young population. As Steve Jobs had said ‘Stay hungry, stay foolish’ which are the driving motives for success and struggle that the human beings have as an instinct for millions of years. The peak is usually where the downfall begins.
