Kaliforniya deyince aynı bizde olduğu gibi gözünü sevdiğimin sahil kesimleri, daha modern ve aydın insanlar ve Amerika’da New York’la beraber pek çok özgürlük hareketinin başladığı eyelet akla gelir. Bu şarkıyı ilk olarak Lise 2’de dinlediğimde çok hoşuma gittiğini ve plakta arka arkaya onlarca kez çaldığımı hatırlıyorum. Los Angeles’ı pek beğenmesem de San Francisco gerçekten güzel bir şehir ve 68 kuşağının, çiçek çocuklarının batı yakasındaki kalesidir, candır.

You Win Again – Bee Gees – E.S.P. – 1987

Bee Gees deyince de insanın saygıyla bir önünü ilikleyesi geliyor. Kolay değil tam 30 yıl boyunca belli bir çizgi tutturup hem 60’lar, hem 70’ler hem de 80’lerde 1 numara olan single’lar çıkarmak… 1997’de Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’e isimleri yazıldığında sadece Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson ve Paul Mc Cartney onlardan daha fazla sayıda albüm satmışlardı.

Barry, Robin ve Maurice Gibb biraderlerden kurulu grup bütün şarkılarını kendi yazıp bestelediği gibi başka sanatçılara verdikleri de çok sayıda şarkı vardır. Barry Gibb’in çok belirgin R&B Falsetto sesini ayırt etmemek imkansızdır. 70’lerin sonlarındaki disko müzik furyasında da ‘Saturday Night Fever’ filminin soundtrack albümünde yer alan şarkılarıyla uzun süreler listelerin en üst sıralarını işgal ettiler.

‘You Win Again’ parçasını seçme nedenim ise eski parçalarının çok fazla çalınıp (örnek How Deep Is Your Love?), 70’lerin disko parçalarından da pek hazzetmemem ve çok kararlı ve mücadeleye hazır bir aşığı anlatması. Aslında 70’lere bakınca İspanyol paçalar, kıvırcıkların bile uzatmak zorunda olduğu saçlar ve koyu renk camlı gözlüklerle özlenecek pek de bir şey olmadığını düşünüyorum. Tabii aynısı 80’lerin vatkaları ve şalvar kesim pantalonları için de geçerli.

Il Tempo Se Ne Va – Adriano Celentano – Il Tempo Se Ne Va – 1980

Dile kolay, 1938 doğumlu Adriano Celentano 1957’den beri var olduğu müzik dünyasında 150 milyon adetle Mina’yla birlikte albümleri en çok satılan iki şarkıcıdan birisi. Şarkıcılığının yanısıra aktörlük, yönetmenlik, şovmenlik ve yapımcılık da yapan Celentano bir koltuğa birkaç karpuz sığdırmayı başaranlardan.

Adriano Celentano İtalya’da bizim için Kemal Sunal ve Barış Manço ne ifade ediyorsa ikisinin birden tek vücutta birleşmiş hali gibidir. Şarkılarından en az bir tanesine mutlaka bir kulak aşinalığı olmayan yoktur. Çocukken 1982 yılında çevirdiği ‘Bingo Bongo’ filmini sinemada izlediğimde çok sevdiğimi hatırlıyorum.

Güneyden kuzeye iş bulma umuduyla göç eden fakir bir ailenin oğlu olan ilkokul 5. Sınıf terk bu çocuk dişiyle tırnağıyla kazıyarak belki hayal bile edemediği yerlere geldi. Aynı zamanda sıkı bir siyasi duruşu da olan sanatçı 2013 Şubat ayından beri komedyen dostu Beppe Grillo’nun başında olduğu Beş Yıldız Hareketi’ne destek veriyor.

Bu şarkı ise benim gibi kız babalarına gitsin çünkü hızla geçen zamanla birlikte kızının büyümesi ve bir kadına dönüşmesi karşısında endişeler yaşayan bir babayı anlatıyor.

A Tale That Wasn’t Right – Helloween – Keeper of The Seven Keys – 1987

Biz lisedeyken pek popüler olmuş, bizim böğürmelerimiz eşliğinde icra ve katledilmiş çok güzel bir Helloween baladı. Zaten benim Metal müzik ve türevleri arasında tahammül sınırım baladlarla sınırlıdır ve onlarda da birkaç vazgeçilmezim arasında yerini almıştır.

1995 yılında Berlin’de gezerken bir kiliseye dışarıdan müzik sesi duyarak meraktan girmemle birlikte bir koronun bu şarkıyı söylediğini duymak bende hafiften bir dumur etkisi yapmıştı. Hele bizdeki rockçı imamın başına gelenleri düşününce hem eğitim hem de hoşgörü şart diyorum.

Simple Man – Lynyrd Skynyrd – Pronounced Lĕh-nérd Skin-nérd - 1973

Bu tuhaf isimli grup çıkış albümüne neyse ki didaktik bir anlayışla grubun adının nasıl söyleneceğinin ismini vererek başlamış. Benim için de yıllardır muamma olan bu gizem de bu şekilde çözülmüş oluyor.

Şarkının sözleri de bir ananın oğluna öğütleri şeklinde ki sanki bizim tipik bir Anadolu kadını konuşur gibi. ‘Gel oğul, otur yanıma hele şöyle bir’ diye başlayıp bilgece tavsiyelerde bulunuyor.

Zaten şu hayatta basit adam olmak da varmış ama sıkılmış diş macunu tüpü gibi o macun bir kere çıkınca nasıl tekrar içeri girmiyorsa fazla okuyup çok her bi b.ka kafa yorunca da endişeli modern olup çıkıyorsun.

Blue Velvet – Bobby Vinton – Lana Del Rey (1963 – 2012)

Ilk olarak 1950 yılında Ray Mason tarafından seslendirilen bu şarkı babamla yaşıt olup listemdeki en eski parça olma ünvanını da elde ediyor.

Şarkının en ünlü yorumu ise Bobby Vinton’a ait. Benim ilk 100 şarkıma girme nedeni ise çok sevdiğim ve anlamak için epey göbek çatlattığım çılgın yönetmen David Lynch’in aynı isimli filminde Isabella Rossellini tarafından seslendirilmesidir.

Zaten sözleri de son derece naif tipik bir 50’ler Amerikan mezuniyet balosu şarkısıdır ama filmle beraber dinleyince çok daha farklı bir etki bırakıyor.

Günümüzün pazarlama harikası, her şeyi paraya çevirebilen yetenekli kızımız Lana Del Rey de parçayı bana göre güzel yorumluyor. Size hem Bobby Vinton, hem filmin fragmanı hem de Lana Del Rey versiyonunu sunuyorum, seç-beğen-dinle.

Moonlight Shadow – Mike Oldfield – Crises – 1983

Benim de elimde plak olarak bir kopyası bulunan Tubular Bells albümünü yaptığında sadece 20 yaşında olan Oldfield sadece Britanya’da 2.630.000 adet satarak inanılmaz bir satış rakamına ulaşmıştır ve ülkede tüm zamanların en çok satan albümleri sıralamasında 34. sıraya yerleşmiştir.

Pek çok müzik enstrümanını müthiş bir ustalıkla çalabilen Mike Oldfield’ın en büyük ticari ve liste başarısı yakalayan şarkısı kuşkusuz Moonlight Shadow’dur ve Maggie Reilly dışında başka şarkıcılar tarafından da yorumlanmıştır.

Şarkının sözleriyle ilgili çeşitli iddialar olmuştur ki bunların belki de en dikkat çekeni John Lennon’ın öldürülmesine atıf yaptığıdır. Mike Oldfield bir röportajında bu konuyla ilgili verdiği yanıtta Tony Curtis’in başrolünde oynadığı ‘Houdini’ filminden esinlendiğini ama Lennon’ın vurulduğu 8 Aralık tarihinde New York’a geldiğini ve o uğursuz kış gününün belki de bilinçaltına kazındığını söylemiştir.

Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen – Various Positions - 1984

Leonard Cohen müzisyenliğin yanı sıra aynı zamanda din, siyaset, cinsellik ve insan ilişkileri üzerine yazılar ve şiirler yazan sıkı bir entelektüeldir. Woody Allen'ın müzisyen versiyonu gibi de düşünebiliriz ama onun kadar üretken değildir.

Hayatının büyük bölümünü depresyonla mücadele ederek geçirmiştir ki zaten o depresif hava şarkılarında da çok belirgindir. Bu şarkıdaysa küçüklüğünde aldığı sıkı dini eğitim ve yönlendirme hissedilir.

Şarkılarının güzel bir single malt viski ve kaliteli bir puroyla beraber dinlenilmesi tavsiye edilir. Çok sayıda müzisyen tarafından yorumlanan bu parçanın bana göre en güzel versiyonu 1997 yılında henüz 31 yaşındayken kaybettiğimiz Jeff Buckley’nin söylediğidir. Karşılaştırmayı buyrun yapın.

Once Upon A Time in America – Soundtrack Full Album – Ennio Morricone - 1984

Sergio Leone’nin yönetmen olarak, Ennio Morricone’nin besteci olarak, Robert de Niro ve James Woods’un aktör olarak zirve yaptıkları bu muhteşem başyapıt müzikleri olmadan kesinlikle aynı etkiyi yapamazdı.

‘İyi, Kötü, Çirkin’, ‘Untouchables’, ‘1900’, ‘Cinema Paradiso’ gibi harika filmlerin müzikleri, Joan Baez’in yorumladığı ‘Here’s to You’ şarkısı, ‘Chi Mai’ gibi yine insanın çok rahat diline takılan bir eserin bestecisi, kariyeri büyük başarılarla dolu Ennio Morricone çok rahatlıkla gelmiş geçmiş en iyi film müzikleri bestecisi olabilir bence.

Quentin Tarantino da kendisinin bir hayranıdır ve Kill Bill ve Inglorious Basterds filmlerinde müziğinden faydalanmıştır.

Redemption Song – Bob Marley – Uprising – 1980

Cem Yılmaz’ın G.O.R.A. filmine bile girebilmiş bir şahsiyeti liste dışında bırakmak olmazdı. Reggae dendiği zaman onun en büyük ismi de Bob Marley olarak kabul edilir.

Afrika kökenli insanların birbirine destek olmasını savunan ve Rastafari inancına bağlı olan Bob Marley marijuananın da serbest bırakılmasını desteklemiştir. Bu şarkının sözleri de zenci hakları savunucusu Marcus Garvey’nin 1937’de Nova Scotia’da yaptığı bir konuşmadan esinlenmiştir.

Yüzyıllarca kölelik belasıyla uğraşan dünyada hala kölelik düzeni farklı formlarda maalesef devam ediyor. Özellikle de şarkıda sözünü ettiği ‘mental slavery’ yani ‘zihinsel kölelik’ bedensel kölelikten çok daha kötü çünkü insan ancak aklını ve zihnini özgürleştirdiği zaman gerçek anlamda özgür olabiliyor. Bugünün dünyasında insanların çoğu da bağımlılıklarının esiri olduğu için ellerinde ve ayaklarında prangalar olmasa da modern köleler olarak yaşamaya devam ediyor.

Diamonds and Rust – Joan Baez – Diamonds & Rust – 1975

Bizim gibi darbe görmüş 80 kuşağı çocukları için protest müzikle tanışmanın en önemli kilometre taşlarından birisi hiç kuşkusuz Joan Baez’i tanımaktı.

Orta 1’de bize Donna Donna şarkısını dinleten mükemmel İngilizce öğretmeni Mr. Johnson’ı da tabii bu tanışmaya vesile olduğu için sevgiyle anmak isterim.

Bu arada şarkının sözleri Bob Dylan’la olan ilişkisine atıfta bulunur. 60’larda New York’ta Greenwich Village’ı hayal edin genç bir Joan Baez ve genç bir Bob Dylan’ın sevgili oldukları. Hayali bile cihana değer, değil mi?

The Boxer – Simon&Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water - 1968

Yine Rolling Stone dergisinin en iyi 500 şarkı listesine 105. sıradan giren bu parça en sevdiğim filmlerden birisi olan ve Simon&Garfunkel’ı dünya çapında meşhur yapan The Graduate filmindeki Scarborough Fair şarkısıyla çok çekişti ama tercihimi The Boxer’dan yana kullandım çünkü bana aynı zamanda iki yaz önce okuduğum ve çok beğendiğim Patti Smith’i ve onun da henüz görme şerefine nail olamadığım şehri New York’ta ayakta kalma mücadelesini ve başından geçen badireleri anımsatıyor. 

Hayatın kendisini başından sonuna kadar bitmeyen bir mücadele gibi düşününce yine de son iki dizede dediği gibi bazen pes ettiğimizi düşünürüz ama farkında olmadan içimizdeki savaşçı mücadeleyi sürdürür.

10 yıldan fazla bir süredir sürekli zevkle dinlediğim ve her albümünde mutlaka beni saran birkaç parçası olan çok güzide bir gruptur Coldplay. Kendine has bir sound’u var ve her albümünde o sound’u korurken pek çok yeni tarzlar da deniyor.

İspanyolca ‘Viva’ ünlemi herkesin bildiği gibi ‘Yaşasın’ anlamına gelir ve benim zamanında Alev Alatlı’nın okuyup çok beğendiğim ‘Viva La Muerte’ yani ‘Yaşasın Ölüm’ kitabının da başlığıdır. Burada ise tam tersine yaşamı bir kutsama var. Hatta esin kaynağı da yaşadığı pek çok sorun ve sıkıntıya rağmen hayata bağlılığını hiçbir zaman kaybetmeyen büyük kadın ressam Frida Kahlo.

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams – Green Day – American Idiot – 2004

2000’li yılların Bush’a karşı en ciddi protest gruplarından bir tanesi kuşkusuz Green Day’dir. Zaten albümün adının ‘American Idiot’ olması da oldukça manidardır.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams Green Day’in ana karakteri Jesus of Suburbia vasıtasıyla yıkılan Amerikan Rüyasına bir gönderme ve bence sinema tarihinin en güzel filmlerinden birisi olan Sunset Boulevard filminden de esinlenmeler taşıyor.

Video klibi de ayrıca çok başarılı. 2005 yılı MTV ödüllerinde yılın en iyi videosu ödülünü alması da bunun bir göstergesi.

Oasis bu parçada 'Wonderwall'dan çok fazla 'esinlenme' olduğunu söylemiştir bu arada. Ben de katılıyorum..

Everywhere – Fleetwood Mac – Tango in The Night – 1987

Fleetwood Mac herhalde en sevdiğim 20 grubun içine girer. Grup içinde çok çalkantılı ve verimli geçen 70’li yıllardan sonra (gönül ilişkileri, uyuşturucu, şöhret belası) 80’lerde Tango In The Night albümüyle muhteşem bir dönüş daha yaptılar.

Içinde 12 şarkı bulunan bu albümün bütün şarkıları çok güzeldir ve benim için bir anlamı da 1991’de Almanya’ya gittiğimde aldığım ilk CD olmasıdır. Yani kaset devri resmen kapanmıştır bu albümle.

Cristine Mc Vie’nin harika sesiyle söylediği bu parça Fleetwood Mac’in pek çok parçasına göre oldukça ‘light’tır ama benim de hoşuma giden işte o naifliği. Bu arada Stevie Nicks’ten Rooms on Fire şarkısını da bonus olarak ekliyorum. Başka bir muhteşem ses ve tanıştıran kuzenim Özgür'e bir teşekkür daha.

Somewhere Only We Know – Keane – Hopes and Fears – 2004

Alternatif İngiliz Rock grubu Keane ben İtalya’da yaşadığım yıllarda ortaya çıkmıştı ve MTV’de epey boy göstermişti. ‘Everbody’s Changing’ şarkısı özellikle bir telekom firması reklamı sayesinde İtalya’da 2004-2005’lerde çok popülerdi.

Bugünlerde çılgın kız Lily Allen da bu şarkıyı gayet başarılı bir şekilde yorumlamış, radyolarda da mutlaka denk gelmişsinizdir.

Insan bazen yorulunca şöyle gerçek anlamda kafa dinlemek ister ya, herkesten ve her şeyden uzaklaşmak. Benim de yıllardır hayalim nedense bana çok huzurlu ve dingin gelen İrlanda’ya günlerin uzun olduğu bir yaz günü gitmek, bol kitap okuyup viski içmek. Yanında kulaklığımdan bu şarkıyı da dinlerim..

Müzik dünyasının efsane ismi, Atlantic Records’un kurucusu Ahmet Ertegün’ü dinlediğinde ağlatan bu şarkı özellikle sonundaki gospel korosuyla vazgeçilmezlerimden biridir. Aşkın ne olduğunu herkes bilmek ister, hissetmek ister, yaşamak ister ama sonuçta çok bilinmeyenli bir denklem gibidir ve o bilinmeyenler sürekli bir değişim içindedir.

2006'da VH1 kanalının yayınladığı 80'lerin en iyi 100 şarkısı sıralamasında 65., Rolling Stone dergisinin en iyi 500 şarkı listesinde de 476. sırada yer almıştır.

The Cranberries – Linger – Everybody Else is Doing it So Why Can’t We? – 1993

Cranberries’i 2003 yılında Milano’da Assago Forum’da kapalı spor salonunda izleme şansım olmuştu. Çok olağanüstü bir konser değildi doğrusu. Mesleki olarak çok yoğun geçen bir 10 yıl ve o an itibariyle iki çocuk annesi bir kadının yoğun annelik hormonlarıyla (bkz. Animal Instinct) yıpranmış olan Dolores O’Riordan zaten o konserden sonra 6 yıllık bir ara verecekti.

Cranberries’in listemde olacağı kesindi ama şarkıya karar vermek beni epey zorladı. Aslında bu şarkının sözleri de hafiften obsesif bir kadının umutsuz aşkını anlatması itibariyle çok da bana hitap etmiyor ama klibinin daha yeni izlediğim Jean-Luc Godard’ın Alphaville filmine gönderme yapması bana çok ilginç geldi.

Yani sonuç olarak madem Cranberries olacaktı, bu şarkı oldu. Artık bahtınıza ne çıkarsa, tatava yapmıyoruz güzelce dinliyoruz.

Live to Tell – Madonna - True Blue - 1986

Madonna’yı anmadan 100 şarkılık bir liste yapmak çok zor. Öyle veya böyle Hülya Avşar misali 30 yıldır kendinden söz ettirmeyi başarıyorsa ve ilerleyen yaşına rağmen olağanüstü sahne şovlarıyla izleyenleri coşturuyorsa saygı duymak lazım.

Kendisine karşı pek öyle özel bir hayranlığım yoktur ama o çılgın ve başına buyruk hallerini, Sean Penn ile yaşadığı fırtınalı ilişkiyi severim çünkü Sean Penn en sevdiğim aktörlerden birisidir. Burada ona da ayrı bir parantez açmak isterim çünkü 1983 yapımı çok da bilinmeyen etkileyici bir gençlik filmi olan Bad Boys’u 15-16 yaşlarımda izlemiştim. Ondan sonra izlediğim Carlito’s Way, Sweet and Lowdown, U Turn, The Game, The Thin Red Line, Mystic River, Being John Malkovich, 21 Grams, All The King’s Men, Milk ve The Tree of Life filmlerinde her zaman harika bir oyunculuk sergilemiştir. Ayrıca siyasi duruşu da gözümdeki değerini her zaman arttırmıştır.

Geçen yıl İstanbul’a geldiğinde konserine gitmedim ama 1986 yılında kendi paramla aldığım ilk kaset True Blue olduğu için onun yüzü suyu hürmetine yine bu albümden en sevdiğim parçayı listeye aldım.

Wicked Game – Chris Isaak – Wild At Heart – 1990

Öyle bir şarkı olacak ki en sevdiğim yönetmenlerden birisi olan David Lynch’in filminde çalacak, 17-18 yaşlarında aşık olmayı ve aşk duygusunu en yoğun yaşadığım dönemlerde karşıma çıkacak ve bir de üstüne üstlük her ergenin rüyalarını süsleyen top model Helena Christensen’in Hawaii’de yarı çıplak oynadığı bir klibi olacak. Daha ne isteyebilirdim ki?

Ayrıca yine ne güzel bir rastlantı ki çok sevdiğim bir diğer yönetmen olan Stanley Kubrick’in Eyes Wide Shut filminde de Chris Isaak’in ‘Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing’ şarkısı çalıyor. Demek ki bu eski boksörün parçalarında böyle baba yönetmenlerin de hoşuna giden bir cazibe var.

24 yıl önce şarkı ne kadar hoşuma gidiyorduysa bugün bile aynı zevkle dinlemek de ne kadar zamana dayanıklı, adeta ‘timeproof’ bir şarkı olduğunu kanıtlıyor. Sonunda 'Nobody Loves No one' demesi de fena yaralıyor.
